Post Op Day #2 (Sunday)

The days are blurring together. The care has been phenomenal, but we struggled to get  my pain and nausea under control. I was either getting too much causing hallucinations, which apparently was quite funny trying to describe all the spiders and ants I was trying to smash in the hallway)., or not enough which made even the smallest movements feel like all my insides were going to rip out. We finally got on some good doses to manage the pain. I’m able to walk the halls with help and just work on trying to stand up straight.

Every 4 hours the nurses come and check my surgical incisions, change bandages under my breasts and along my abdomen. They also drain the 4 bulb suctions that are in place clearing out extra drainage. They are sutured in, 2 under my armpit area and two in my upper back area. Dax is getting pretty good at draining these and sticking them back in my cute pink kangaroo pouch. I also learned they had to do a rib resection, they pulled back a rib on both sides near my sternum  in order to reconnect the blood vessel with good vascular supply from my chest wall. That pain has been a doozy, but manageable. They took out my sentinel node and we will get results on that soon, praying for negative results there. Natalia has been the best nurse- so kind by so abrupt too ha ha. “ why you stand like that, look up look up!” I loved hearing her say that to me each time we tried to walk.

Overall, not too bad of a day. Dax and I spent some time listening to calming music; reading some scripture passages and talking of the love God and all the miracles we have seen in the last few months. A big shout out to my little sister Natalie, my dear friend Brittney and all of our other ward neighbors who have helped take care of our kids while we are gone. It all happened so quick, we didn’t know how to pull off such a big event in such a short period of time- we didn’t have time to plan much, just grab who was available and it all worked out for the time being. I miss my babies so much, but I know they are in such great care.

Thanks for continued love and prayers.
